We listened to consumers and made the Jackery Air, the first premium, ultra-thin, lightweight, and mobile portable charger. Jackery Air is the thinnest portable charger for mobile devices in the world. It has the most elegant and visually appealing design and features up to 5 days of extra operational time. It is crafted from the same aluminum molding process used by Apple, made with the highest quality battery cells available today, and features advanced power lock technology that will hold its charge for 6 months when not in use.

The Rise of the Portable Mobile Battery
We conducted market research early this year and collected data from our industrial partners about mobile device usage trends. We presented the infographics “The Rise of the Portable Mobile Battery” which detailed some of the findings. With bigger screens come bigger batteries which are not necessarily keep up with the modern phone’s power demands. To tackle this problem, more and more users acquire external batteries hoping to get that needed extra juice.
This infographic shows the history and trends of mobile batteries. Some of the interesting findings include:
- 2005 is the year with the longest average mobile battery life with 50 hours.
- 1995 and 2013 tie for the same average of mobile battery life with 28 hours.
- When it comes to battery life, travelers have the least luck.
- More than a third (38%) of smartphone users panic about running out of battery at least once a week.

Our Story
Since the beginning of this year, we have been working with a team of electrical engineers and product experts to bring the product vision of the Jackery Air into reality. We have successfully made a number of prototype units of the Jackery Air and validated the viability of our product vision: making the world’s thinnest high-capacity portable mobile charger. The prototype units have passed a number of safety and energy efficiency tests and we are one step away from the production.
The first prototype of the smart control circuitIn product design process, we have overcame a number of engineering challenges in order to make the Jackery Air the thinnest portable mobile charger in the world. To ensure the battery safety and to meet the energy efficiency standards, we have designed a smart control circuit to fit into the ultra-thin case. The smart control circuit is equipped with our advanced power lock technology which allows the product to hold its charge for six months when not in use.
Smart Control Circuit with Advanced Power Lock TechnologyAnother engineering challenge is making the ultra-thin aluminum case for the Jackery Air. Due to the ultra-thin design, the previous production techniques didn’t meet the requirements for this product. It took us more than six weeks working with a case production expert to get a prototype that met our requirements. We adopted the same molding process used by Apple and successfully made a thin aluminum case for theJackery Air.

Jackery Air cases made by the same premium aluminum molding process used by AppleMost of the current portable mobile chargers are made with cheap plastics with the standard black color. Jackery Air is lightweight with a stylish design. The sleek design won’t be possible without using the premium color coating process. We require the manufacturer to apply the color coating to the full body of the case evenly in order to optimize the efficiency of heat dissipation during charging.

Our quality control team will inspect every unit to ensure its quality and safety. We estimate it will take about two to four weeks of shipping and handling time from our manufacturers to Jackery warehouses. We guarantee our donors to receive Jackery Air rewards in late July or early August.
